In this post you need to explain the research that you have undertaken and what you have found out and how it is relevant to your film.  Discuss how you think it will be best to include it in your film.

Production plan

Layout and running order

Using a presentation format or a word document create a running order for your production.

Reseach and materials required

This one is self explanatory: create a list of research and materials, such as photos, survey, interview questions etc that you will need in order to continue with your production.

With this you will need evidence of the permission that you have accquired.

Outline proposal

Choose one idea that you would like to pursue and create an outline proposal for it to present to the group. Your proposal should explain why it is relevant and would be successful.

Ideas for a factual production: pros and cons

Mindmap a number of ideas for a factul production looking at the pros and cons of each.
(this could be in the format of a presentation, a list, a table)

In depth analysis of a factual production

Go to  http://topdocumentaryfilms.com/ and choose one documentary to look at in depth.
Discuss what mode/s it would fit into and evaluate the conventions it uses with reference to specific eamples.

Remember to give key examples to explain which mode or modes you think it falls in to.

What are 'Factual Productions': Formats and Conventions

Factual productions are.....

(In this section you need to demonstrate a clear understanding of what a Factual Production is and their purpose.  You should also give examples of the different medias in which a Factual Production can be created.  E.g A film, a podcast, a blog, wiki etc... If you are looking to challenge yourself you may want to discuss the idea of 'reality tv' is it there to inform or does it lie more towards entertaining as its purpose?)

Explain that you will be exploring the documentary, in particularly film documentary.
In order to do this you will need to outline the five modes of documentary. (Reflexive, Expository, Interactive, Observational and performative.)

In this explanation I would also explain the typical conventions of a documentary (remember to include the 5 modes of  documentary) of a factual producion:

e.g
Objective vs. subjective
role of the narrator
layout
interviews
showing a balanced argument

You may find it helpful to refer to use specific examples of documentary.  DON'T just refer to tv or film here- look at other formats.

Introduction: Unit 20

 Dear All,
This is an example blog demonstrating what you will need to have as evidence for your portfolio.
Notice the layout and oganisation of material using labels. Try to allocate each post to a particular stage. The stages are as follows:

Stage 1- Coventions of Factual Media

Stage 2- Ideas for a Factual Media Production

Stage 3- Creation of a Factual Production

Stage 4- Review and evaluation

You will need a number of attachments to use as evidence of you meeting the requirements.  You will also need to create a label for your Production Log.

Start working through your log now! Give yourself a headstart!
